Honoring Pastor Dan

The folk at First Baptist Church of Kennett Square gathered to honor their former pastor Daniel Nicewonger. Pastor Dan stepped down from his full time ministry responsibilities recently to devote more of his energies to his ongoing battle with cancer. But he remains devoted to ministry in that church and community, while carefully observing and navigating his ethical boundaries as the former pastor. Following an inspiring worship celebration, Pastor Dan was commissioned as the “Elder of Outreach”. The church then celebrated Pastor Dan’s ministry with a wonderful banquet and a series of testimonials given by people Dan has touched during his years in ministry there.

Men at Moreland

The Northumberland Baptist Men’s Dinner was held at Moreland Baptist Church. Ladies from the church prepared a delicious pulled pork dinner, complete with apple pie and ice cream for dessert. The group heard about a local camp, Camp Victory that works with a variety of kids with special needs to offer them a camping experience. In the fall, a work day will be scheduled at Camp Victory to help close up the camp and complete some maintenance before winter.

God's Work in Our Midst

Central Union Baptist Association held its Spring Gathering at Royersford Baptist Church. The theme for the gathering was God’s Work In Our Midst, From Your Backyard to Across the World. The program was exceptional, and many folk representing many churches shared in this time of fellowship, inspiration, challenge, and worship.

A Visit With Vissers

While traveling around the region, Rev. Cristy Wise, GPS SW, had the chance to pay a visit to retired Pastors Carol and Dick Visser, now living at Providence Point. Both are great prayer warriors and continue to have a heart for the region. Some of us remember the great vocal duets they used to provide at ABCOPAD Biennials!

Palm Sunday Praise

Pastor Deb Copeland and the congregation of FBC, Berwick, had much cause for praise on Palm Sunday. Six new members where received into the fellowship. We certainly join the folk at Berwick in celebrating how God is building His Kingdom through the work the church is doing!

Hepburn's Hunt

Sooner or later, every church faces the challenge of the Pastoral Search. So many of our churches are discovering new ways to do ministry with Bi-vocational pastors, Co-vocational pastors, pastoral teams, and more. The current pastor at Hepburn Baptist Church, Rev. David Parker, does not retire until the end of the year, so the Pastoral Search team, pictured here, is trying to be proactive, knowing some of the challenges that lie ahead. Let's remember them in prayer.
